October Collage

Halloween

A house in the city has gone all out in decorating for Halloween. Along with this set-up there is a graveyard full of headstones, a skeleton bride and groom and lots of spiderwebs. It was even featured on the evening news tonight.

Sweet Chestnut Pods

I found these on the ground yesterday while out walking and had to bring them home to photograph. I didn't know what they were but after searching the internet found out they are from a Sweet Chestnut tree. Very different from a Horse Chestnut tree.

Visitors

A Pigeon, Northern Flicker and Blue Jay on the feeder in the back garden today. I took the pigeon picture in the morning and the flicker picture in the afternoon. The Blue Jays were around the garden squawking for peanuts (I usually put peanuts out for them every day) so I thought it would be nice to get a picture of a blue jay on top of the feeder as well. So I put peanuts up there to lure them and it worked.

Travel Plans

Joe and I are going to Washington, DC in November so we've been looking at maps and renewing our passports. And, I think I forgot to share this great news. Until October 17th my starfish photo is the main photo on Kodak's home page! Click here to see it.

Boats, Big and Small

Another cruise ship, the Star Princess. I think this is the biggest cruise ship to come into the harbour. I wanted to get pictures of it coming through the narrows but I was too busy today. And some fishing boats with Cabot Tower, Signal Hill in the background.

Autumn Approaches

We went for a drive today and saw some autumn colour. We don't get much colour in this part of Newfoundland, though. More brown than orange, red or yellow.
