
Or a float, or a bumper. I once posted a picture of one of these on the internet and was corrected, someone said it wasn't a buoy. I call them all buoys. And how do you pronounce it? I say "boy", others say "bu-ee". Perhaps "boy" is a Newfoundland pronunciation.

I grew up calling them "boys". I have met a few people who said "boo-ee" though. I am from the interior of BC.
I call them booees too. I see them in the bay here but they are floating out in the open. I always thought they were to guide the ships in. This seems like a bumper? Heck, what do I know though. Great shot :)

'Boy' is the way we pronounce it in this part of the world. I think the booeee thing is an American thing.
