Blue Jays

Today there were several blue jays on the deck taking the peanuts so I decided to set up our small camera and take a video of them. Joe edited it, just click on it to start it playing. It's a bit long but I think the end is cute. As you can see from the video it was snowing a bit this morning.

Bright Star

My sister was here for a visit this weekend, she gave me this new Willow Tree angel (I collect them). I haven't seen this one in the stores yet, it's beautiful.

Cabot Tower

Cabot Tower on Signal Hill this evening. If you look closely you will see that the horizon is tilted but I had to leave it that way or it would look like Cabot Tower was leaning over.

A crow on the deck today, looking for peanuts.

Torbay and Flatrock

I went for a drive to Torbay and Flatrock today. It was sunny but pretty cold (2ºC). The first photo was taken on a walking trail in Torbay and the 2nd one shows the town of Flatrock, taken through the trees.

A statue of Sir Winston Churchill in Churchill Park in the city.

Taken downtown today before it clouded over and the temperature dropped.

Spirea

My spirea bush has turned a lovely colour.

Wigeons

An American Wigeon and a Eurasian Wigeon at Burton's Pond today. Both are male ducks, you can see the difference in head colouring.

Ducks

Ducks from Quidi Vidi Lake today, a female Mallard (I think, it's probably a hybrid) and a male Wood Duck.

The Rower

American Money

This is a macro of a US $10 bill. The name under the portrait says Hamilton, I assume he was a president.

Toronto Airport

Art hanging from the ceiling at the Toronto Airport, we had a four hour wait there.

Leaving Washington

One last walk along the mall before we left Washington, the first picture is outside the Air and Space Museum. The second picture shows the inside of the Dulles airport where we waited for over an hour to sort out new tickets after we found out that our flight was cancelled. Now we won't be home until late tomorrow night, we're stuck in a hotel just outside the airport (but it's a nice hotel).

The Smithsonian

It rained and was cold all day, so we went in some of the Smithsonian Museums and Galleries. We also walked around an outside sculpture garden.

Washington, Day 2

Today we walked to Union Station, all along Pennsylvania Avenue, saw the White House and then walked around the tidal basin and saw the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. Another full day.

Washington DC

We're here!! From Capitol Hill to the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial and everything in between, we did a lot of walking today. Check my website when I get back next week for more pictures from the Washington Mall.

Reston Town Center

Today I went to Reston Town Center while Joe was in meetings. The cab driver told me it was a small town......looked like a big, busy city to me! The town center has lots of stores and restaurants, a fountain, a Christmas tree and a skating rink. There were people skating there today and the temperature was over 20 degrees celsius.
