Today I hiked a part of the East Coast Trail from the Oceans Science Centre in Logy Bay to Sugar Loaf Head.......2 km each way, a lot of uphill climbing for the first part. The views were amazing and the weather was perfect. 19ºC with very little wind......surprising since I was on top of one of the highest hills around and it's always windy here.
We've had a lot of goldfinches in the back garden lately, using the birdbath and eating seed from the feeders. Today while I was mowing the lawn one of them flew into the window. It lay stunned in the grass for a long time. I went inside and got my camera and took several photos of it. It flew away after a little while. Later I got a few photos of a goldfinch in the tree.....I doubt it was the same one.
We walked around Kenny's Pond this afternoon and also saw the Shriners parade on the nearby road.
I was walking some trails in Pippy Park today and one of them came very close to the golf course. What a beautiful view they have from there.
A few more photos from our day trip yesterday. The new Amelia Earhart statue in Harbour Grace, a horse in Heart's Delight, the coastline of Trinity Bay and Shag Rock.
Today we went for a drive, we drove to Trinity Bay through the communities of Dildo, Heart's Delight & Heart's Content, then over to Conception Bay and the communities of Carbonear and Harbour Grace. It was a beautiful day and we even managed to do some geocaches along the way.
I went to the Botanical Gardens today, it was sunny and around 17ºC, a beautiful day. There were a lot of butterflies on the goldenrod, all the same type. I think they are "Painted Lady".
I have huge lilies starting to bloom in my flower box. I don't know what type they are, I bought the bulbs 2 years ago at the end of the summer and this is the first time they have bloomed.
