There were 4 robins in my back garden today. I hope they found a warm place because it snowed this evening!

Signs of Spring

Crosuses from Bannerman Park, Coltsfoot near Long Pond (Coltsfoot is the first wildflower to bloom around here) and a Great Egret in Long Pond. They are rare birds in Newfoundland.

Miniature City

I took apart an old computer today, most of it is going in the garbage but I saved some of the obsolete parts for photo props. They look like tiny cities.

Baby Icebergs

Well, not really, just some ice in the bay. We drove to Holyrood today and saw this ice. Some people call them "bergy bits" or "growlers". Baby icebergs sounds cuter.

More Ice and Glitter

We drove to Flatrock and Pouch Cove today. The ice is in the bays out there and there is still a lot of glitter on the trees.

Sea Ice & Freezing Drizzle

This is the reason it has been so cold lately......sea ice and the cold north wind that brought it close to shore. This morning we awoke to freezing drizzle and everything was covered in glitter. These pictures were taken in Torbay and Middle Cove this afternoon.

Peacekeeper Memorial

This is the Peacekeeper Memorial in downtown St. John's, it is only about a year old. Flags at the memorial are flying half-mast in memory of the 8 Canadian soldiers (including 2 Newfoundlanders) who were recently killed in Afghanistan.
