The Veiled Virgin

The Veiled Virgin is an amazing sculpture from a solid piece of marble. It looks as if you are looking through a veil to the face, but the veil is part of the sculpted marble. It was sculpted in the mid 1800's, you can find more information about it here.

Wow, that's incredible! I could never manage to produce something like that! It's much easier to just take great photos of it! :)

That is so awesome! It blows my mind to think how someone came up with the concept and then was able to carry it out so brilliantly! What a beautiful piece of art. And what a great photo, you capture it perfectly! :)

Interesting in that there's one with the same technique in the Minneapolis Institute of Art. I'll try to find it and give you the url to compare. Your photo is very clear and good!

How were you able to take this photo? I saw the statue and was not allowed to bring a camera in.

This was taken in 2006, I guess they have changed the rules since then. My sisters and I all took photos of the statue while the nun who conducted the tour looked on.
