Last Night's Sunset

Last night we walked out to Fort Amherst, I wanted to take some night shots out there. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful sunset colours and had to take pictures of the harbour before we went to Fort Amherst. The colours in these photos are not altered at all, they are straight from the camera.

Lime Chiffon Pie

We were invited to a BBQ so I made this pie to bring. It's very light and refreshing. I've included the recipe, it's very easy to make.
Lime Chiffon Pie

2/3 cup boiling water
1 pkg. lime jello
Ice cubes
1/2 cup cold water
2 cups thawed Cool Whip
Zest and juice from 1 lime
1-1/4 cups graham crumbs
2 Tbsp. margarine, melted

Stir boiling water into dry jelly powder in large bowl at least 2 min. until dissolved. Add ice to cold water to measure 1 cup. Add to jelly; stir until melted. Stir in whipped topping, zest and juice with whisk. Refrigerate 15 min. or until thick enough to mound.
Meanwhile, combine graham crumbs and margarine in 9-inch pie plate. Press onto bottom and up side of plate; fill with jelly mixture.
Refrigerate at least 4 hours.

Fort Amherst, Queen's Battery & Signal Hill

I got a new lens (Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS) so I went to Signal Hill to try it out. It's very clear and sharp, better than the Sigma 18-200mm lens I have (but that lens is pretty good, too, I take most of my photos with it).

Sir Wilfred Grenfell

The coast guard ship Sir Wilfred Grenfell in St. John's harbour. I was on this ship when I was a teenager, my mother's cousin worked on it and he gave us a tour.

Southside Hills Hike

Today I hiked the East Coast Trail on the Southside Hills. I started from Shea Heights and hiked as far as Fort Amherst. It took me 3 1/2 hours, but that was stopping often to take photos and rests. I also did 4 geocaches along the trail. Most of the trail is up and down among trees and ponds. It's not until you reach the top ridge that you can actually see the city and the harbour. The views are fantastic and I took a lot of photos.

Bubble Tea & Fairy Tea

The first photo, "Bubble Tea" won a 3rd place ribbon at DPC. This evening I experimented again with the teapot and came up with something I call Fairy Tea. I don't like it as much as the Bubble Tea photo.
