Harbourfront

A few photos taken along the harbourfront around noon today, yes it was snowing again.

Evening Meal

I'm no Rock Recipes, in fact I don't really enjoy cooking. But here is what I had for supper this evening. Honey glazed carrots, long grain & wild rice and baked salmon.

Downtown

Downtown St. John's on a sunny but cold day. OK, I confess, these were taken yesterday morning. But it's been snowing and blowing most all day and I didn't go out.

Butterflies

The butterflies are back at the greenhouse in Bowring Park. Last year the insectarium in Deer Lake brought hundreds of butterflies to St. John's and they've done it again this year. I took tons of pictures this morning, it was hard choosing which ones to show, so I went with a variety.

Clear Day

A lovely clear day today but cold!!! I went for a short walk in the woods on snowshoes. I was hoping to find a geocache but I guess it was covered in the snow. Snowshoeing, trying to follow a gps and take pictures is not very easy.

Black Capped Chickadee

I try to keep the bird feeders filled in the winter. When I do I am rewarded with visits from chickadees, juncos, goldfinches, flickers and blue jays.

Happy Easter

Kenny's Pond

In between cleaning and cooking for Easter dinner tomorrow, I managed to get out for a quick walk around Kenny's Pond this afternoon as it started to clear off. Well, as quick as you can go when you have to walk in other people's footprints in the snow.

We had a lot of freezing rain yesterday and everything on higher ground is still iced over.

Easter is Coming

I said you'd be seeing more of this bunny before Easter.

We got over 40cm of snow and 10mm of freezing rain since yesterday afternoon.

We're having a snowstorm. Not much green around here today.

It is nice to travel but it is always nice to come home.

Canada's Terrain

We flew home today. I didn't get any pictures of the Rockies because of cloud cover but I did get some cool aerial photos. I love the patterns in the land and the shadows from the clouds. The 2nd photo is of Lake Manitoba and the 3rd photo is Regina, Saskatchewan. It's just plunked there right in the middle of the prairies.

Victoria, Day 6

Today I met up with a friend and she took me sightseeing to some areas I would never have gotten to on my own. We saw the Lieutenant Governor's residence and two castles, Craigdarroch Castle and Hatley Castle, as well as other areas.

Victoria, Day 5

Today was the coldest day we've had so far, about 8 Celsius with high winds and showers. But I did see a rainbow, which made up for the rain.

Victoria, Day 4

Another overcast day with a bit of clearing, which was good considering the forecast was for rain. We walked across the harbour this afternoon, there are some impressive hotels and condo buildings over there. The 2nd photo shows a view of downtown Victoria from the other side of the harbour and the 3rd photo is the cute little harbour ferry which is like a taxi. You can see several zipping across the harbour throughout the day.

Victoria, Day 3

It was overcast and cool today. We walked through Beacon Hill Park, a very pretty park and there were even flowers and trees blooming. The park goes to the coast and we saw the Mile 0 marker.....interesting to us as there is also a Mile 0 in St. John's.

We had a beautiful sunny day for sightseeing. We walked along the inner harbour and through the downtown streets. Here are photos of a totem pole in Thunderbird Park, houseboats, sailboats, a school in Chinatown and the Empress Hotel in the evening sun.
