Pitcher Plant

The Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia purpurea) is the floral emblem of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is a carnivorous plant, it traps insects in its leaves. Speaking of wildflowers, I just compiled a gallery of 147 wildflowers of Newfoundland on my website. You can see the gallery here. I will be adding more wildflowers as I find them.

  1. Great shot! I love pitcher plants. I have a bunch out back near my river (in the swampy part of my yard). I tried keeping a few in pots on my deck once...to help keep the mosquito population down. Didnt work. lol.
